APARTMENT BUILDING

A building with separate units for tenants who rent or lease them. The owner of the building provides common amenities such as lights and heat, and maintains common hallways and entrances.

APPEAL

Request by the client or responsible party to the validation or Verification Body for reconsideration of a decision it has made in relation to the validation or verification.

APPLICABLE STANDARD

A set of standards, definitions, laws, rules, or Methodologies of an Applicable Standards Body with respect to which projects and programs are validated and Environmental and Sustainable Development Benefits are verified, as such set may be amended, modified, or replaced from time to time.

APPLICABLE STANDARDS BODY (ASB)

A Person that is the governing body making final and binding determinations under an Applicable Standard, which body may also have an agreement in place with Capturiant with respect to Validation of Projects, Verification of Environemental and Sustainable Development Benefits, and issuance and registration of Assets compliant with such Applicable Standard.

APPLICANT

A firm, or lead firm (if part of a team), responding to a request for application for verification bodies.

APPLICATION

An official written request to the State Engineer for permission to initiate a water right, alter an existing water right, or alter a natural stream channel.

APPRAISAL

The procedure for finding market value of an asset.

APPRECIATION

An increase in the value of a property due to changes in the economy or related causes. The increase may be either temporary or permanent. This is the opposite of depreciation.
